(WINSTON-SALEM) -- An aviation maintenance company is coming to Winston-Salem after North Carolina and Forsyth County offered the company a total of $600,000 to create just over 300 jobs in the next four years. NS Aviation will take over a space at Smith Reynolds Airport once used by bankrupt Pace Airlines.

Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines said the company will fit the region's plans for economic development.  "We're working to create a sort of aerotropolis, if you will, utilizing Piedmont Triad Airport as the center, but Smith Reynolds Airport can play a strong role in that as well," said Joines.

NS Aviation plans to revive much of the former repair business of Pace Airlines and expects to hire many of the former Pace employees that are currently unemployed. “We are very excited to bring new job opportunities to Winston-Salem and give people an opportunity to work for a locally owned company,” said Charlie Creech, President of NS Aviation. The company will also invest $1.27 million over the next four years.
