RALEIGH -- The North Carolina Economic Developers Association (NCEDA) selected Sandy Dunbeck, senior vice president of the High Point Economic Development Corporation, as the 2015 Economic Developer of the Year in recognition of her outstanding achievements.

“Sandy’s hard work in business site selection has positively impacted the area with job creation throughout Guilford County,” stated Michael Smith, NCEDA President. “This award is our organization’s way of recognizing her dedication to this community, the economic development profession and our state.”

The association says Dunbeck was integral in the economic development success of High Point in 2014, which included

Ralph Lauren Corporation building a $34 million facility, Thomas Built Buses adding 236 jobs, Graphik Dimensions adding 150 jobs, BuzziSpace adding 113 jobs, Kao Specialties Americas making a $12 million expansion, APAC Customer Services adding 850 jobs, Heritage Home Group moving its corporate headquarters to High Point while adding 300 jobs, and much more.

“I saw the direct benefit of Sandy’s work highlighted by the successful location of Belgium furniture manufacturer BuzziSpace,” said Loren Hill, NCEDA board member. “Her tireless efforts and personal attention helped the company feel confident that High Point was the right home for the company’s first North American manufacturing location. As a direct result of Sandy’s efforts, High Point is poised to make significant gains in economic development in the coming year.”
