Newman Hoping For The Chase and A New Ride

(UPDATE) -- Ryan Newman is still negotiating life after Penske Racing. He has confirmed that are three serious options for him after he finishes with Penske at the end of this season. He will not confirm what those options are, but talk still rumbles that one of the options would have Newman driving along side Tony Stewart at Stewart-Haas Racing. He said he has a lot of good people around him to help make the right career decision. "Obviously meeting are important, talking to people, figuring out what's the best opportunity from a performance standpoint and from a financial standpoint. That doesn't matter so much to me, but it does," said Newman.

He admits the time spent seeking out and evaluating opportunities does create an challenge right now. "It does take away from what I do on a day to day basis."

Newman is ranked 16th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings, but he is still hoping to make the Chase. "I think we have a realistic shot. I'd say it is an outside shot. We have to improve our performance." Currently, Newman is 189 points out from 12th.
