Tight Competition Heading To Dover

Image(UPDATE) -- The second event in the 10-race Chase for the championship is Sunday afternoon at Dover. Kyle Busch is one contender with a big gain this week. He moved up four spots to fifth in the Nextel Cup point standings. He has got his eyes on who he will need to outrun for a a Dover win. "Matt Kenseth is always good there and Ryan Newman was good," said Busch.

Matt Kenseth will run a different setup compared to his June setup at Dover. The strategy of making setup adjustment for the second race at a track has worked well for him at other tracks. "From the first New Hampshire to the second New Hampshire we ran a drastically different setup and ran a fare amount better," said Kenseth.

Last year, Jeff Burton ended a 175 race victory drought with a September win at Dover. He knows the key to a Dover win. "You get that thing to hug the bottom and be able to get into the throttle quick, that's how you get races won at Dover," said Burton.

The top seven contenders for the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series title are now separated by only 54 points.

An Amping 88 For Earnhardt

Image(DALLAS, TX) -- "We're going to be the number 88 car," said Dale Earnhardt Jr. at a Wednesday press conference in Dallas, Texas. With that, the speculation ended and Earnhardt finalized the table of contents for the latest chapter of his career. "This was a number actually we didn't think we had a chance to get."

He is ready to make the move to Hendrick Motorsports next season where owner Rick Hendrick looks forward to seeing the number 88. "Junior has 88 on his Busch car and his granddad drove that number and that's always been a good looking number on the car," said Hendrick. "This was a number actually we didn't think we would have a chance to get and I'm pretty excited about that," said Earnhardt.

Pepsi's Mountain Dew and Amp energy Drinks along with the National Guard will be the major sponsors of the number 88 starting with the 2008 Sprint Cup Series. "I can't wait to get to work," said Earnhardt.
