(CHARLOTTE) -- Earlier this week Lowes Motor Speedway President Humpy Wheeler predicted that Jimmie Johnson will win Saturday night's All-Star Challenge. The annual exhibition comes the weekend before the Coca Cola 600 at LMS. "If you have a successful All-star race, it makes the 600 weekend much smoother," said Johnson.

Johnson cam in second to Kasey Kahne in the 600 last year. "Kasey Kahne did have the best All-star race but came back and won the 600, so I think that it (the All-star Challenge) does serve as another test session."

With no point on the line Saturday night, drivers usually go all out. "You learn a lot from the All-star event about how the race is run at night, the type of adjustments you can make in the 600 and the balance of what you need for the car."

If Johnson can fulfill Wheeler's prediction, he'll join Dale Earnhardt and teammate Jeff Gordon as a three-time winner of the All-star event.
