(CHARLOTTE) -- Jimmie Johnson is certainly one of those on the favorites list for Sunday's 48th Annual Coca-Cola 600 at Lowes Motor Speedway. Saturday's Nextel All-star Challenge found him struggling with suspension problems and figuring out how to win late in the race, but having to settle for second. "At the end of the last lap I thought well the outside hasn't worked for me yet and I thought well the last lap and I'vie got a cushion behind me let me just try it. And I got through one and two and got right to the 29's bumper and I'm like, man, why didn't I try that a lot sooner or something," said Johnson.

Over the years, Johnson has dominated the mile and a half track. He has won five time in 11 career starts at LMS. He didn't find much to take from Saturday's race to Sunday's 600. "Seemed like clean air made a big difference being in the first two or three cars, but outside of that when I was running mid-pack I didn't really have a lot for anyone. The cars were pretty equal through the field."

He will bring a winning effort to the track on Sunday. "I feel real confident about coming back and what we need to have."
