NASCAR Chairman, Brian France
(CHARLOTTE) -- NASCAR Chairman Brian France has given drivers a lot to think about when trying to push the envelope on the new Car of Tomorrow. "We're going to continue a rise of escalating the penalties," said France during a teleconference on Tuesday. France does not want to issue a suspension for any driver who fails an inspection, but he has indicated that NASCAR will do this if necessary. "We're going to escalate these penalties to a level that it's not worth taking the risk."

NASCAR has a laser beam focus on making sure the "car" does not win a race. "We want the strategy of the crew chiefs and the driving ability of the drivers to be the focus not who has the latest gizmo that NASCAR didn't want to say no to."

France basically said that they will continue boosting penalties for set-up violations until it hurts. Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt Jr., have all been docked 100 points when their cars failed inspections.
