(UPDATE) -- A year ago, Jeff Gordon, the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series points leader, was ranked 12th in the series standings and determined not to miss the Chase for a second consecutive season. He then won at Chicagoland and began what is now 37 consecutive weeks in the top-10. "Momentum and chemistry is so important throughout the year. It can't stop. It's got to continue to grow and move forward," said Gordon.

Gordon has four wins to go along with his top ranking this season. He give a lot of credit to his crew chief. "Steve Letarte really deserves a lot of credit for really elevating this team to up to the next level."

Gordon returns to Chicagoland Speedway this weekend with a driver rating of 11th according to NASCAR Loop Data statistics.
