(UPDATE) -- Defending Nextel Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson has his work cut out for him after a fiery crash knocked him out of the race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Sunday. It was the second consecutive DNF for Johnson. He has dropped from fourth to ninth in the standings over the past three races. "We've been very fast, we've been competitive, we've just have had some crazy luck," said Johnson.

There are only six races to go before the Chase field is set. "We can't lose focus on how good of a team that we have and let that effect the way we approach these last few races before the Chase."

He does not want to be like Tony Stewart last year who got hit by the bad luck bug and missed the Chase. "I don't want to be in that situation. "If the situation was different, we were running around 30th and then blowing tires and crashing, that would be one thing but we've been very competitive and just have had some bad racing luck."
