Clint Bowyer (LOUDON, NH) -- Clint Bowyer started from the pole to win his first NASCAR Nextel Cup race. Often called the nicest guy in NASCAR, he took the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway, the first stop in the Chase for the Championship. "To be able to start the Chase, we were 12th and nobody really counted on us to do anything and to come out and fire one right off the bat, it feels pretty good," said Bowyer. He entered the 12-driver Chase as the only contender without a win this season. four-time series champion Jeff Gordon was happy with his second place finish on Sunday, but he was more impressed with Bowyer's win. "I think everybody is happy for Clint and I think it just proves that anybody in the top-12 can win this championship," said Gordon. Two-time champion Tony Stewart came in third Sunday. "He [Bowyer] was just rock solid and strong all day. It's fun when you got a car that drives like that. It makes that first win very memorable," said Stewart.
