Hope and Reality...The Battle For A Championship PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Horn

Image(UPDATE) -- The final four races in the Chase For The Nextel Cup could mean opportunity lost or opportunity gained for drivers in the top four. Second ranked Jimmie Johnson says he and teammate/points leader Jeff Gordon are not the only two who could still win the 2007 championship. "You could get two bad races and if Jeff has two bad races, Tony Stewart is back in this thing, one bad race, I'm up on top," said Johnson.

Third ranked Clint Bowyer is 115 points behind the leader. The young driver has hope that the 24 and 48 will falter. "Hopefully if they slip up and stub their toe or something we have to be there for the taking, racing as hard as we can week in and week out," said Bowyer.

Fourth ranked veteran and past champion Tony Stewart is more realistic. "It's hard to think that both of those guys might have trouble I mean if it is, it's going to be something out of their control, it's not going to be something in their control. If they have control of the situation, it's not going to happen," said Stewart.
