(UPDATE) -- Three races remain in the Chase For The Nextel Cup and the margin for points leader Jeff Gordon narrows after a seventh place finish last Sunday. "I'm just happy to have a points lead right now," said Gordon. He heads to Texas Motor Speedway where a win there still alludes him. "I think one of the great things about our race team is it doesn't matter whether we win or whether we have a bad finish, we erase all of that out of our mind when we move on to the next race track."

Finishing seventh and still leading teammate Jimmie Johnson by nine points is a good thing, according to Gordon. "If a bad day for us is seventh, I'll be very happy with that for the next few races."

Mathematically, all 12 Chase drivers could still win the championship. "It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out," Gordon add. But, if your name isn't Gordon or Johnson, a 2007 championship is realistically a tough goal to maintain.
