Texas - A Tough Nut To Crack PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Horn

Image(UPDATE) - Three more races remain in the Chase For The Nextel Cup and Sunday's Dickies 500 at Texas Motor Speedway presents a challenge for the top three. None of them have won a Cup race at Texas. Leader Jeff Gordon really just needs a good finish and he has racked up five top-fives at Texas over the years. For Gordon's teammate, Jimmie Johnson, who trails the lead by nine points, he is just looking for a good finish, too. "We can go lead laps, we can try to lead the most laps and really race for this championship," said Johnson.

Third place Clint Bowyer, who is 111 points out from the lead, knows he needs to pick up a win at Texas. "You just got to keep it underneath of you. You gotta have it freed up early to be good in the long run. As we all know on those tracks it can come down to fuel mileage and long runs," said Bowyer.

Those in the Chase with a Cup win at Texas include Tony Stewart, Matt Kenseth, Jeff Burton and Carl Edwards.
