(LEVEL CROSS) -- After 58 years, Petty Enterprises is moving 70 miles west to Mooresville, the heart of many other NASCAR operations in the Charlotte area. A move like this has been tossed around for a while, but Richard Petty was the last to get on board with the idea. He finally relied on the advice of those who run the day to day operation of the race team. He had one question for them. "What do y'all think is going to be the best future for Petty Enterprises," said Petty. The move is bittersweet. "It's a jubilant day because you're lookin' to do better."

The number 43 and the number 45 will move into a facility being vacated by Robert Yates Racing. "We're not doing this to impress anybody. We're doing this to try to make Petty Enterprises better. If Petty Enterprises is better, then it'll impress somebody."

The move will begin as soon as Robert Yates Racing is out of the Mooresville facility. Petty expects the move to be complete by the end of the year.
