(MIAMI, FL) -- The finale at homestead pits teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon against one another for the Nextel Cup title. Gordon trails Johnson by 86 points. "We're not going to give up, I mean, we're going to go into this weekend's race giving it everything that we've got," said Gordon.

Gordon is not going to discount the number 24's success this season if he doe not win the 2007 Cup title. "No matter what the outcome is, whether we get it done or not, it's been a fantastic year for us." In eight races at Homestead, Gordon has three top fives and six top 10's.

Johnson is approaching Sunday's Ford 400 with a strategy of racing smart but aggressive. "Pushing the envelope in certain situations may not be the smart thing, but I in my heart of hearts feel that we can come down here and have another shot at winning a race," said Gordon.

Johnson has two top fives and four top 10's at Homestead, but he has two Homestead finishes below 18th. He has got to finish 18th or better for the title.
