Jimmie Johnson wins Cup title, again. (HOMESTEAD-MIAMI, FL) -- Jimmie Johnson won his second-straight Nextel Cup Championship with a seventh place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "I'm truly going to savor this," said Johnson.Johnson landed the pole and fought to lead a lap for five bonus points, then played it conservative the rest of the race. He was battling teammate Jeff Gordon for the title. "I knew I had to beat the best guy in the sport for the championship and for race wins, something our shop has worked hard for to be in this position." Gordon was the last to win consecutive championships. That happened 10 years ago. He finished fourth on Sunday and ended up 77 points shy of the title. "I'm just a little disappointed we weren't able to bring it home, because I really thought it was going to be our year. I thought we did what it took. We've got to learn from it and step it up for next year," said Gordon. Matt Kenseth won the Ford 400. He's got some momentum heading into the 2008 season after five consecutive top-five finishes. "We finished the year off strong, so I feel like we have some momentum. We've been pretty strong, we've been leading laps, we've been in contension," said Kenseth.
