(DAYTONA BEACH, FL) -- During the off-season, NASCAR announced an initiative to allow drivers to show more emotion and personality. Kurt Busch and Tony Stewart officially tested that idea on Friday with a practice session on-track and off-track altercation. NASCAR Vice President of Competition, Robin Pemberton, announced Tuesday that both drivers are on probation for six races. "We had a closed-door meeting and that will continue to be closed door. We're not going to discuss what we discussed in that," said Pemberton.

There is the question of who of the two drivers might be the most responsible for the Friday incident. "I'm just going to say both drivers are getting the same penalty. They both have some responsibilities out there in how the handle themselves, some of it on the track, some of it off the track, and I'm going to leave it at that."

When NASCAR says Stewart and Busch are on probation, what does that mean? NASCAR Communications chief, Jim Hunter, will not say. "They (Stewart and Busch) understand what might happen."
