Ryan Newman Wins Daytona
(DAYTONA BEACH, FL) -- The 50th Daytona 500 offered the most competitive run in the history of the "Great American Race." There were 42 lead changes, but it was the lead change at the end that counted for the driver of the number 12 Dodge. Ryan Newman picked up his first Daytona 500 win and snapped an 81-race winless streak. "To be part of the 50th running of the Daytona 500, ya know, I don't have the word," said Newman.

Newman got a final lap push from teammate Kurt Busch, launching both Penske drivers past Tony Stewart. "He (Busch) could have easily gone three-wide and split us through the center and made one heck of a mess there going into three, but he chose to be a teammate," said Newman.

The victory means car owner Roger Penske earned his first Daytona 500 victory as a car owner. Busch felt good about helping his team get a one, two finish. "I was very emotional crossing the line finishing second because I know we did something very special for the captain today," said Busch.

Tony Stewart thought his Toyota had everything needed for a win. He was disappointed that he had to settle for third. "If you know you've got a car that's fast enough to win and you don't, you're devastated over it," said Stewart.
