(FONTANA, CA) -- The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series makes the cross country trip to California Speedway for Sunday's Auto Club 500. Carl Edwards said the two-mile "D" oval track presents a unique challenge for the new Car of Tomorrow. "It seems to me it's hard to get these car to have the same balance through the whole corner and that place, that's a lot of corner at one race track," said Edwards.
California native Kevin Harvick said transitioning through the California Speedway track is key. "You gotta be able to make enough speed at the beginning of the run to keep up and make ground and not lose too much at the end," said Harvick. Jeff Burton said the track comes with a package of challenges. "It's a big two-mile race track but it drives more like a half mile. It's very slick," said Burton. Jeff Gordon finished second in the Auto Club 500 last year. "You know, I think we're going to see some great racing, but I do think qualifying and track position is gonna be extremely important," said Gordon.
