Even thought Jimmie Johnson beat Edwards of the the final pit stop, Johnson, battling a loose car all day, could not hold off Edwards. Johnson was still happy with his second place finish. "Just couldn't pinpoint it and get it like we needed to, and after Daytona finishing like we did to come back and have a good run like this helps a lot," said Johnson.

The race ended under caution and that may have helped Jeff Gordon land a third place finish. "We got very lucky. We blew up. Right as the caution came out on the the white flag lap the engine blew up, so we got very fortunate there," said Gordon.
