Carl Edwards (FONTANA, CA) -- Carl Edwards took his eighth career victory in the rain delayed Auto Club 500. He said he hoped this was the beginning of something big. "There's one thing we've learned is that we've got to stay on top of it. We've got to keep working just as hard as we have. There are very minor differences between the cars that are winning these races and the cars that are running fifth or sixth," said Edwards.Even thought Jimmie Johnson beat Edwards of the the final pit stop, Johnson, battling a loose car all day, could not hold off Edwards. Johnson was still happy with his second place finish. "Just couldn't pinpoint it and get it like we needed to, and after Daytona finishing like we did to come back and have a good run like this helps a lot," said Johnson. The race ended under caution and that may have helped Jeff Gordon land a third place finish. "We got very lucky. We blew up. Right as the caution came out on the the white flag lap the engine blew up, so we got very fortunate there," said Gordon.
