(UPDATE) -- The general consensus among Cup Series drivers at last month's Las Vegas test session was that the "new car" handled well and should produce some good competition in Sunday's UAW-Dodge 400. Denny Hamlin has one of the more successful LVMS tests. "Seems like every time we go to a big track with these things I'm definitely more impressed with how they drive," said Hamlin.
Rookie Sam Hornish Jr. believes the fact that the "new car" is making its first appearance at Vegas helps him against some of the veterans. "When they come to these tracks for the first time in this car it's something that they have a little bit less experience with, so it feel like sometimes that it puts us on a little bit more of an even playing field," said Hornish. Dale Earnhard Jr. said his team is going to have a big challenge with finding the sweet spot for the splitter on the "new car." "The splitter gets on the ground, goes up the race track, so you've got that splitter off the ground, but as close as possible to get the maximum down force," said Earnhardt.
