(UPDATE) -- Ryan Newman may be paying the price of success. This year's Daytona 500 winner opened the season strong, then launched into the Daytona 500 winner public relations tour. At Phoenix testing this week he was showing a little wear. "I think I'm a little, basically tired -- a little tired and worn down, but it's all for a good reason," said Newman.

Sunday at Las Vegas he just could not hold track position. "I was actually disappointed in our finish at Vegas, finishing 14th. We were a top-10 car at times, but we struggled. There were a couple of runs where we were a 25th place car." Regardless of how Newman is feeling right now, the last time he ranked in the top-10 in Cup Series points was after the second race of the 2006 season. "Two top-10s and a 14th outside of that is good for points, but our main goal is to be in the top-five each and every week. That's what's going to win you a championship."

This week, Newman holds the number three slot in Cup Series points.
