(UPDATE) -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. holds the 10th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points this week. He's keeping his sights firmly planted on staying in the top-12. "I'm really watching that top-12 hard 'cause I've waited and been lackadaisical...well we'll get around to it, we'll put some runs together to get in there, and I ain't gonna do that this year. I'm gonna concentrate on that every lap," said Earnhardt.
Junior might find accomplishing this a challenge this weekend since he'll be pulling double duty in both races. He'll also run in this weekend's Nationwide Series race at Atlanta. Still, Earnhardt believes good finishes in the Cup Series this weekend at Atlanta and next weekend at Bristol are key when it comes to having good summer momentum. "They're pretty crucial, both them races, I think, to really set you up for the summer run." Jr.'s teammate, meanwhile is looking to do something no other driver has done. Jimmie Johnson wants to win three in a row at Atlanta Motor Speedway. If he can fix some recent car handling problems, he might just be able to accomplish this.
