(UPDATE) -- Two-time defending Sprint Cup Series Champion Jimmie Johnson is ranked 13th in the series standings. This is obviously not where he would like to be. He admitted the number 48 team is still learning the Car of Tomorrow on the tracks where the COT has never run a race. "We need a little bit more time with the COT on the intermediate tracks. We did not test last year. We did not test during the off season on the intermediate tracks," said Johnson.

He said the COT on the intermediate track is a challenge right now for all of the Hendrick Motorsports teams. "Even though some of our teammates are finishing better than we are, they're still not up there winning races and dominating, so we have a little learning to do at HMS." He said there are indications that the number 48 is close to getting the magic back. "When you're riding the wave and winning all the races and doing well you're just an adjustment or two away from not having that magic and where we are right now we know we're not that far off from being back in that position, it's just finding the right things."
