(AVONDALE, AZ) -- Tenth ranked Ryan Newman has landed the pole for Saturday night's Subway Fresh Fit 500. It is his 43rd career pole. "We've won some poles, but we haven't been P-1 in practice. To be P-1 in practice and back it up in qualifying, that shows consistency," said Newman.
Elliot Sadler qualified second on Thursday. He said this could be a good shot in the arm for his 20th ranked team. "This is a great first step at a place that I have one top-10 start. I'm not the best qualifier in the world at all here at Phoenix. I'm pretty lost mostly actually most of the time here at Phoenix," said Sadler. As Carl Edwards runs for his fourth victory of the season, he will has a good start with a third place qualifying effort. He knows his domination this season could fade at anytime. "If there's one thing that's certain this season it's that there's going to be change. Things are going to happen throughout the season. People are going to change things and hopefully we can stay on top of that change and be just as fast at the end as we are now," said Edwards.
