The Awesome Brickyard PDF Print E-mail
Written by David Horn

(UPDATE) -- Every driver wants a trip to Victory Lane at the Brickyard, but Mark Martin is calling it for his number 8 car on Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. "We've got the stuff, we've got the team, never planned on anything anymore than my plan is for the Brickyard. That's the crown jewel," said Martin.

It is a crown jewel that still inspires some of the most successful drivers in the sport. "You drive through the tunnel and come in inside the track and you can just feel the history of the race track itself, so yeah, it's a special place," said Jimmie Johnson.

Matt Kenseth said this Sunday's race is second only to the Daytona 500. "Probably Indy, probably seems like it's the second biggest race of the year. It's at a big track, a big historic track. It's really cool that we even get to race at that track," said Kenseth.

Clint Bowyer has an interesting observation about the track. "It's got a golf course in the infield for crying out loud."
