(RALEIGH) -- With the economic downturn continuing, non profit leaders are meeting in Raleigh to look at what the future holds. Governor Bev Perdue and legislative leaders are discussing policies -- and budget issues -- as part of forum sponsored by the North Carolina Center for Non-Profits.
Tricia Lester, vice president for the center says many charitable groups are seeing demands for their services rise, just as resources are tightening. Perdue says some of the best knowledge on how to deal with problems facing the state comes from the non-profit sector . She helped created a state credit for charitable giving for those who do not itemize tax deductions. |
