(FAYETTEVILLE) -- North Carolina's two U.S. Senators along with Congressman Larry Kissel are in Cumberland County Monday for the 8th Annual Defense and Economic Development Trade Show. The Department of Defense and major defense companies spend billions of dollars each year on subcontracts.
Senator Richard Burr said even more Defense contract business will be coming to the region. "I'm not sure most North Carolinians realize that in about 2011 all the procurement of the United State Army will be done out of Fort Bragg, Fayetteville," said Senator Burr. Representatives from approximately 70 defense contracting firms and Department of Defense organizations were expected at Monday's day long event. The event gives businesses the opportunity to learn how to being more effective in dealing with the government for military subcontracts.
