CDC Chief Checks NC Flu Effort PDF Print E-mail
Written by Phil Elkins, WPTF

(RALEIGH)- The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Thomas Frieden, toured Wake County Human Services’ facility to see the efforts taken to ensure North Carolinians who want the H1N1 vaccine are getting it.

Joining him were Democratic Congressman Brad Miller, state Health Director Dr. Jeffrey Engel, Wake County health director Sue Lynn Ledford and county commissioner Lindy Brown. This facility is one of four places in the county offering the vaccine free of charge. Wake County is only offering the nasal mist version right now, which is recommended for people ages 2 to 49 and specifically not recommended for pregnant women, children with asthma or anyone with a long-term health issue.
