Cisco Introduces New Routing System PDF Print E-mail
Hoping to boost sales to phone carriers, Cisco Systems Inc. introduced an Internet router, the CRS-3, that will let Web users download movies, songs and data faster to computers and mobile devices.

Cisco's Research Triangle Park Campus employs 4,000 in the Triangle.

Cisco says the C-R-S-3 router can transmit voice, data and video at 322 terabits a second, triple the capacity of its predecessor. The machine would let a carrier to deliver all the movies ever made in less than four minutes or connect a simultaneous video call by all the people in China.

Chief Executive Officer John Chambers is trying to appeal to carriers as they upgrade their networks to cope with rising demand for online video clips and movies.

Cisco, the world’s biggest network-equipment maker, has invested $1.6 billion in the product.
