Gordon Wins Talladega
(TALLADEGA, AL) -- Jeff Gordon took the checkered flag in the Aaron's 499 at Talladega, breaking a tie with the late Dale Earnhardt for sixth place on NASCAR's all-time career victory list. "He was a master here. I feel like I learned everything that I know about restrictor plate racing from him," said Gordon.

Gordon won under caution. Some fans showed their dissatisfaction by pelting the track with bottle, cans and anything else they could get their hands on.

Talladega is Earnhardt country and many fans wanted to see Dale Earnhardt Junior take the win. "We worked our butts off trying to get up there. We wasn't no match for pretty much the whole top 10 there," said Earnhardt. Junior had to settle for 7th place.

Gordon teammate Jimmie Johnson came in second. He credits teamwork to the one/two Hendrick finish. "There were times where Jeff, myself and Casey both could have chosen a different lane and it would have hurt us all, but we kept each other up there and we did a good job of taking care of one another," said Johnson.
