(NORLINA) -- The North Carolina Highway Patrol has identified a man they say hijacked a bus Thursday night en route to Raleigh, North Carolina.  Highway Patrol says the suspected hijacker is 32-year-old Jose Flores of Arlington, Virginia.

Claiming to have a bomb, Flores reportedly brandished a weapon and overtook a Greyhound bus traveling from Richmond, Virginia to Raleigh. State Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jeff Gordon says the driver pulled into a Sunoco gas station on I-85 near Norlina, about 60 miles north of Raleigh, and most of the 35 passengers onboard were released when the bus stopped. Authorities shortly thereafter surrounded the bus and took Flores in to custody.

No one was hurt, and police have not addressed a motive for the incident.  Flores faces kidnapping charges and is currently in the Warren County jail.
