(RALEIGH) -- Some state lawmakers want to encourage the installation of green roofs. A bill introduced in the House would give a 75 percent tax credit for the cost of installing a green roof.

Rep. Susan Fisher said the State Capitol is already leading by example with its own green roof. "We have a garden up there.  We have a system of rain collecting instruments that help us to conserve water," said Fisher.

Fisher is a co-sponsor of the legislation. She said we need to do all we can to promote energy conservation.
