Tide brings their laundry program to North Carolina
Saturday, 30 April 2011 16:36

(RALEIGH) -- For many people in the Raleigh area struggling to recover from tornado damage, a program that has come to the aid of many is trying to help. Through Monday, the Red Cross is working with the Tide Loads of Hope program to help with laundry needs.

Team leader Johns Russell says this all started with a notable natural disaster - Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Since then, Russell says they've helped victims of wildfires, floods and earthquakes.

The team will do four loads per family per day and will wash, dry and fold free of charge. Two crews have been in North Carolina: one in Raleigh, the other in Windsor, which is in Bertie County.

They will likely be heading south from here to assist in tornado recovery in Alabama and other Southern states.
