(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- With North Carolina being tagged as a "battleground state" in the race for the White House, Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan said there is lot of buzz around the Democratic National Convention being held in Charlotte in 2012.

"It's going to be a huge economic impact for North Carolina.  People have already said, when I come to Charlotte where else can I go, whether it's the mountains, the piedmont, the coast," said Hagan.

Hagan said she would be proud to attend events with President Obama in North Carolina, and did so recently when he was in Asheville.
