The North Carolina chapter of the NAACP was one of several groups who spoke out against a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage, arguing the measure is far reaching and will end up hurting more families than it was intended to help.
The Reverend William Barber is President of the chapter of the NAACP... he told CNN Wednesday that despite it's double digit defeat... the numbers against the amendment were trending upward. Barber said "Those who say religious matters should not be up for a vote, voiced support for the marriage amendment."
