(RALEIGH) -- Tropical Storm Beryl is expected to dump bring rain to all of North Carolina by late Tuesday and into Wednesday. Brandon Locklear is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Raleigh and said the system will soon turn toward the Carolinas.

"We're going to finally see Beryl start to move off to the northeast on Tuesday night and more so on Wednesday and it's suppose to hug right along the east coast and just along the North Carolina coast just to the east of Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach.  As that system starts to draw near, we're going to see increasing rain chances," said Locklear.

He said the most significant rain totals could be 6 to 8 inches along parts of the immediate coast. Locally higher amounts are possible as the storm is expected to maintain a very slow forward motion.
