(RALEIGH) -- There is no escaping the heat across North Carolina into the first of next week. North Carolina News Network meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said a number of high temperature records could be broken.

A heat advisory is in effect for Friday from the foothills to the coast. "We also have an excessive heat warning for Saturday and Sunday.  That includes most of the Piedmont, Sandhills and the Coast Plains.  Afternoon high temperatures are going to stay in the 100s, 100 degrees to 105," said Wilmoth.

The evening hours will not offer much relief either. "Temperatures will be very slow to cool overnight.  Lots of us won't even get out of the 80s overnight over the next couple of day, so take it easy out there.  The heat will be with us for at least the next five day," added Wilmoth.
