Presidential Campaigning in Raleigh

(RALEIGH) -- Both presidential campaigns are trying to gain voter support, as the presidential election is headed into the home stretch. Oscar nominee Don Cheadle, on Saturday, hosted an area kickoff event at the Obama campaign office in Raleigh. He said if the president lands another term in office, the country will see even more positive change.

"We need to get to this third phase, in this second term, where I believe we will really see the fruits of his labor pay off for many of us."

Also on Saturday, Former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty attended events in Raleigh and Cary in support of Mitt Romney. Pawlenty, a vice presidential contender, explained to News 14 Carolina why he thinks Romney is the right man for the job.

"I think Governor Romney's message is 'we're going to stand by our good friends and good allies' when he's president, and not have the uncertainty and instablility in the relationship [we've] seen under President Obama."

Both presidential candidates are spending big to take the Tar Heel state. According to the Raleigh News and Observer, the campaigns have so far spent a combined $38 million for television ads in in the state, targeting an estimated three percent of undecided voters.
