(CHAPEL HILL) -- UNC-Chapel Hill Chancellor Thorp reiterated Friday that he plans to go through with his plans to resign in June.

Thorp spoke briefly at a student organized rally, "I'm confidant it's in the best interest of the university, and  me and my family for me to go back to the faculty in the fall."

A number of groups including students, faculty, staff, and the board of trustees have all asked Thorp to reconsider.
