(APEX) -- One of the Republican party's rising stars visited Wake County on Monday to encourage women to support Mitt Romney for president. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley asked the women in the Apex crowd to persuade five people to vote for Romney.

Haley dismissed allegations that Republicans are waging a war against women, and talked about the issues that matter most in this election. "What we do care about jobs and the economy and health care and the debt and what's happening with the international crisis and all those things affect women and women want to get out strong and say their support if for Mitt Romney," said Haley.

Despite tough times for Romney last week, Haley said she believes his campaign is in a strong position.
