(RALEIGH) -- The NRA says an armed guard might have stopped Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza before he killed 26 people, and they want armed security at every school. But State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson isn't sure that's the answer.

"Schools have multiple doors to enter and exit. One person in a school could have been at another location, you just never know. But we have to be diligent in making sure that we have proper procedures in our schools," she said.

Atkinson said her department is reviewing safety procedures at schools across the state, but they don't expect to find a one-size-fits-all solution.
