RALEIGH - A Johnston County teen faces charges after he was at the wheel in a crash that killed his friend.

Bryan Gilmore, 17, is charged with felony death by motor vehicle in the death of William Trippett, 18, of Garner. Authorities say Gilmore was drunk and speeding when he crashed his truck early Saturday morning in the 2200 block of Josephine Road. The force of the crash ejected Trippett from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Gilmore turned himself into the Highway Patrol, charged and released on $24,500 bond.
