MOORE COUNTY - The Department of Public Safety's Alcohol Law Enforcement Section partnered with the Moore County Sheriff's Office in a raid in Taylortown that resulted in several guns and drugs being seized. Two men now face drug related charges and one faces a charge of possession of a firearm by felon.
According to ALE, Dectrek Barrett was the focus of a long term drug investigation. Barrett is a convicted felon and was released from prison last November.
State ALE agents seized one handgun, one shotgun, one rifle, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, money and counter surveillance equipment installed at his Taylortown home.
"Working with the Moore County Sheriff's Office in this case is a prime example of what can be accomplished when law enforcement agencies work together. This arrest will result in a safer community and the elimination of another drug distributor in the area," said Department of Public Safety Secretary Kieran Shanahan.
Charged during the raid were:
Dectrek Barrett, age 33, of Taylortown was charged with trafficking Opium, possess with intent to sell and deliver a schedule II and schedule IV controlled substance, possess with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, possess with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a drug dwelling, possession of a firearm by felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Charles Patrick Gallagher, age 26, of Taylortown was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Barrett was booked in the Moore County Jail under a $125,000 bond.
