RALEIGH -  An Elm City woman used a gun to fend off two intruders who invaded her home.

The woman, who was sick and stayed home from work, was hiding in a closet in her home on Tonya Road. She shot one of the suspects as he approached her.

Both suspects then fled from the residence.

Christopher Devonte Joseph, 18, was found wounded about 300 feet from the home. He was transported to the hospital where he was last listed in stable condition. The other suspect, Michael Daquarius Bynum, 16, was later arrested after he fled into a wooded area. Both suspects were charged with breaking and entering and possession of marijuana.

The homeowner will not face any charges.
