RALEIGH -  In the fight for gun control, lawmakers have turned their sights on background checks. While many gun buyers are required to get background checks, there's still a large number of people who don't have to.

Mark Glaze, the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, said, "Sixty percent of gun buyers get a background check because they buy from a licensed dealer. But if you buy from a gun show, you buy from a website, no background check."

A new map shows that over 98 percent of people in North Carolina live within 10 miles of a licensed gun dealer.
