Storm Cleanup Continues in Franklin County

YOUNGSVILLE, – Cleanup and damage assessment is underway after a Tuesday evening line of storms, and a possible tornado, roared through the northern tier of the Triangle. The storms blew up from a line of thunderstorms which came into the area in a diagonal line between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. It led to blocked roads and damaged some homes and forced children to take cover in a church, according to reports. But, no injuries were reported.

There was a report of trees down blocking the intersection of highways 401 and 98 in Franklin County and Clinton Pond Road was also closed overnight due to downed trees and power lines.

The National Weather Service is sending experts to the area to determined to confirm if a tornadoes actually touched down.
