Dozens of people who thought they'd beat the court system in Durham have found themselves on the wrong side of the law again.

They were arrested as part of Operation Canceled Flight, an effort between the Department of Public Safety, the Durham Police Department, and the Durham County Sheriff's office. Public Safety Secretary Kieran Shanahan says they took 132 dangerous criminals off the streets.

"We are pleased to say that we think that we have made a dent in current criminal activity. In particular... 4 of those arrests are known gang members."

Shanahan says the arrests were made for skipping court appearances and violating probation, among other charges.
