RALEIGH -- The price of gas in North Carolina has dropped 20 cents over the last month and 45 cents from last year to $3.27 a gallon. Triple-A Carolinas Angela Daley said that's because we haven't had a major hurricane like we did last year.

According to Daley, "Last year we were dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac, and many refineries had to shut down for a period of time. So we did see a spike in gas prices last September, due to the hurricane. This year, we haven't seen any hurricanes and that's why gas prices have been falling, pretty much since Labor Day." The cheapest gas in the state is in Fayetteville at $3.21 and the most expensive is Asheville at $3.36.
