RALEIGH -- North Carolina is one of two dozen states that have chosen to not expand Medicaid coverage, and there are some that feel that is strictly a politically-motivated decision. Durham Mayor Bill Bell is one of those people, and he says this decision will leave over a quarter-of-a-million North Carolinians without health benefits.

According to Bell, "At least 377,000 persons in North Carolina would be able to have their healthcare benefits if they would have expanded Medicaid in the state."

Bell added that North Carolina will be paying into the system through federal tax dollars, but not receiving any benefits.
